Our National Curriculum Swimming Lessons are proudly delivered by the Fylde Coast's Largest independent Swim School - Big Fish Little Fish Swim School.
We recognise all learners have different levels of experience toward Aquatic environments.
To reflect this, all learners are provided ability forms for initial grouping - followed by further assessments in the water.
Ensuring your learner not only is placed in the correct group, but also ensuring learners who require more time in the water during the scholastic year are provided that opportunity.
Each Learner is incredibly important to us & the pathway your learner experiences is unique to their abilities.
A huge part of a learners Aquatic experience is the facility.
It's very easy for a learner to feel intimidated by a large public facility & in addition such facilities are often cold.
The Big Fish Little Fish pool is the only pool on the Fylde
coast that was specifically built for swimming lessons.
The goal of National Curriculum Swimming Lessons is to attain 25m performed to a high standard in a minimum of two different strokes. In addition, learners will undertake surrounding safety skills & this is the target for all learners taking part in the swimming lesson system.
However, all learners have different starting points & the STA School Swimming Academy is an inclusive program recognising the efforts of all learners.
So no matter what stage within the system your learner reaches, they will attain a certificate stating exactly what they can do!
Not only is this a record of achievement, it also provides valuable insight toward your learners ability & will aid gaining access to ability assessed clubs/activities.
Please be aware, School Swimming Lessons are not an optional extra to the National Curriculum - they are a part of it.
Much like Maths, English, Literacy, Science, P.E - School Swimming Lessons are part of the Governments requirements & expectation of learning.
As with any physical activity, all considerations are set in place to ensure a safe, fun, progressive & effective learning experience are available to your learner. Before any lessons take place, all learners are required to have returned digital ability & medical forms (available at the bottom of this page).
These forms ensure both Holy Family & Big Fish Little Fish are able to attain as much information as possible about your learner and ensure everything possible can be catered toward your learner, enhancing their learning experience & individual pathway.
It can be incredibly common for parents/carers/guardians/learners to be unsure about water, please rest assured however that your learner is in safe, qualified, experienced & dedicated care at all times.
